According to Roland Berger’s analysis cabinet, 1.4 million people may have productivty gains from AI’s whereas 800 000 jobs could be threatened, in France.

Artificial Intelligences or AI’s are the ability of a computer to perform tasks associated with human intelligence. Many examples are widely known like ChatGPT (developed by OpenAi), translation softwares added in most apps or websites, Siri…
AI’s are now considered as a threat for some sectors like education, graphic design, finance, journalism and so on…

For example, in the cinema industry, according to a Goldman Sach’s study in March 2023, 300 million jobs could be competing with AI’s skills like scriptwriting, creating special effects and dubbing through voice recreation. You’ve probably already seen the voice of a celebrity covering a famous song on social media (TikTok), making it funny.

A concrete example : the Hollywood industry.
Since May 2023, strikes and demonstrations have been led by unions of screenwriters then joined by actors, stopping filming and production for five months. The cause
: the decrease of salaries impacted by the boom of streaming platforms and the increased use of AIs and the lack of regulations around them.

While in the Silicon Valley, Sam Altman, the creator of Open Ai (and ChatGPT) was removed from the firm, because of a disagreement on the marketing strategies around ChatGPT. Given that it is a free platform that costs a lot to maintain, the benefits were not enough. In the end, he was rehired thanks to the support of Microsoft, and the employees who threatened to resign from Open Ai and join Microsoft if he didn’t come back.
Concerning this crisis, NGO and non-profit foundations like Wikipedia and Mozilla question the free rein of AI’s and do not wish to soften regulations with legislature, like the european AI-act.
